Seawall Foam Injection: Marco Island Questions

By Marco Island SeawallUpdated: 2026-10-26

Treat injection as a proposed method that needs evidence. The product name alone does not diagnose a void or establish that the wall can remain.

First establish why the ground settled

Marco Island’s owner manual documents soil loss through wall joints and structural movement related to anchors and toe support. These are different problems. Ask for a written explanation of the condition the treatment addresses and any separate structural work needed.

No city source reviewed here establishes that injecting foam restores failed anchors, damaged panels or lost toe support. A proposal should not imply that a ground treatment certifies the whole seawall.

Request evidence specific to the proposed product

  • Product identification, technical data, environmental handling requirements and installer qualifications.
  • How the investigation established the location and extent of the treatment area.
  • The intended mechanism: filling a void, limiting a pathway or another stated purpose.
  • How the engineer will evaluate wall movement, drainage and remaining structural concerns.
  • How quantity, incomplete treatment, cleanup and warranty exclusions affect the price.
  • What observations or measurements will verify the result.

Check approvals before committing to a method

Describe the complete injection and associated wall work to Building Services. Ask DEP South District whether the proposed waterfront activity requires a separate authorization or exemption verification. A contractor’s product warranty is not a permit determination.

Use the drainage and soil-loss checklist to compare a method against the cause, and verify the business and qualifying professional before contracting.

What does a complete treatment proposal need to explain?

Before treatment
What investigation supports the proposed treatment area and identifies the cause? Ask for a plan of the locations and the structural concerns that need separate work.
During treatment
Who monitors the work and decides whether unexpected movement, material loss or a different condition requires a stop and review? Ask for that responsibility in the written method.
After treatment
Which measurements or observations will establish that the defined objective was met? Ask what remains unverified and what follow-up is included.
Price and warranty
How is material quantity measured, what happens if the allowance is exceeded, and what does the warranty exclude? Compare these terms with the actual diagnosis.
