Marco Island Seawall Costs & Quote Calculator

By Marco Island SeawallUpdated: 2026-10-29

Enter your wall length for a starting price range. Compare construction and anchor-work examples, then check the access, design and permit costs your quote needs to cover.

The verified city fees are a separate budget item

Resolution 26-26, effective June 1, 2026, lists installation, repair or replacement at $4.50 per linear foot, minimum $189. Plan review adds 38% of the permit fee. An 80-foot example is $360 plus $136.80, or $496.80 before other charges.

The city’s linked Form 31 still displays older rates. Use our source comparison and fee examples and ask the city for the assessed invoice. Do not apply these city figures to an unincorporated county parcel.

Worried about damage? Check the warning signs.Optional · 10 short questions · no contact details

Answer from what you already know. Stay on safe ground; do not go near the edge or into the water to check. You can choose “Not sure” for any question.

Skip this and go to the budget calculator

1. Holes, sinking ground, or soil washing out behind the wall?
2. Is the wall leaning or bulging toward the water?
3. What cracks have you noticed?
4. Gaps, missing pieces, or soil coming through the joints?
5. Is the top broken or crumbling, or is metal showing?
6. Are there rust stains on the wall?
7. Does water come over or through the wall at very high tides?
8. Has there been a major storm since the wall was last checked?
9. About how old is the wall?
10. When was the last professional inspection?
What this check is based on

The questions cover signs shown in the City of Holmes Beach seawall manual (pages 5–13): soil loss, wall movement, open joints and damaged concrete.

An approximate length is fine.

Where can I find the wall length?

Look for the waterfront length on your property survey or seawall plans. For example, enter 75 for a wall that is about 75 feet long. If you cannot find it, tick “I don’t know the length yet”. Stay on safe ground; you do not need to measure beside the water.

Add height & site details Optional

Add what you know about the wall and access. We’ll include these details in your result so you can discuss how they affect the work and price.

Help with the height measurementTop of capWaterline (changes)Mudline / bottomBuried embedmentExposed height

Use the height from the bottom beside the wall (the mudline) to the top of the wall cap. Include the part under water. Use plans or a survey; leave this blank if you don’t know. Do not enter the full panel length or a survey elevation such as NAVD88. The buried depth and required top elevation come from the site design.

How the numbers work

For a published range, we multiply the price per foot by your wall length. A general construction range stays the same when you change material; it is not a material-specific quote. If you do not know the length, we show the per-foot price instead. Repair comparisons use separate anchor-work prices. Height, ground conditions, equipment access, permits and other work can change the final price. The source does not give enough detail to price those changes, so the calculator lists them as questions to check.

Have a price for your property? Enter it to add known extra costs and the reserve you choose. Anything without a price stays on your checklist. For repairs or a height change, get a price for that specific work.

The wall’s bottom-to-top height, the buried panel depth and the cap elevation shown on a survey are different measurements. An engineer uses the ground, nearby structures, drainage and water conditions to design the wall. For more detail, see the City of St. Pete Beach engineering report and Florida DEP permit guide. The calculator uses the residential price sources shown above, not public-project costs from these documents.

What could your seawall cost?

Published regional starting prices. Get a written quote for the work at your property.

An 80-foot wall with restricted barge access and an existing lift is a different job from an open lot of the same length. Compare the work and access assumptions before comparing price per foot.

Repair prices by type

These are two different anchor-work examples. They do not price every repair, and they must not be added together or added automatically to a replacement quote.

Published repair estimates by type

New-wall prices per foot

The calculator uses a published $400–$900 per foot construction range. This is one contractor’s Southwest Florida estimate, with no separate rate for each material.

50-, 75- and 100-foot examples

Multiply the wall length by the price per foot. Construction rate multiplied by wall length. These are starting examples, not complete project quotes; check what is included.

What to include in your price

Ask for a written list of what the price covers. Include the related work below when planning your total budget.

  • Engineering investigation, water-side access, surveyed cap elevation and actual wall length.
  • Demolition, disposal, new wall system, tiebacks, cap, backfill and approved drainage.
  • Barge mobilization, bridge route, upland staging permission and restoration of landscaping.
  • Separate dock, lift, electrical or plumbing work and temporary utility arrangements.
  • Local and environmental approvals, inspections, engineer certification and completion survey.
  • Written exclusions, unit prices for concealed conditions and owner authorization for changes.

Ask what the mobilization allowance assumes

A proposal that assumes upland equipment access cannot be compared directly with one that includes a work barge, bridge routing and neighboring-lot staging. List the assumed route and permissions beside each price.

Include the underwater investigation, designer, separate dock work and final survey when they are outside the construction line item. A blank allowance is an unresolved cost, not a zero.

What do fixed prices, allowances and exclusions mean?

Ask each bidder to label every cost in the same way. The contract controls the meaning; these questions help reveal which amounts are firm and which still depend on site findings.

Fixed scope
Which drawings, quantities and work limits support this amount? A fixed price for cap work is not a fixed price for the whole wall.
Allowance
What quantity or condition does the allowance assume? Ask for the rate and approval process if the actual work exceeds it, and how an unused amount is handled.
Unit price
What is the unit: wall length, area, anchor or material quantity? Define how it will be measured and whether mobilization is a separate charge.
Exclusion
Who will supply and pay for the omitted item? Put a named owner and an estimated or quoted amount beside it before comparing totals.

How do you turn a quote into a usable budget?

  1. Make one scope sheet

Record the same waterfront length, wall ends, proposed work and access assumptions for every bidder. Keep existing-wall repairs separate from new construction so a shorter scope does not appear to be a cheaper equivalent.

  2. Add the work outside the wall price

Obtain separate figures for the survey, engineer, agency charges, dock or lift changes, utilities and restoration when excluded. Count an item only once if a contractor already includes it.

  3. Price the uncertainty

List concealed anchors, underwater conditions, access permissions and other unresolved items. Ask the designer and contractor which can be investigated now and which need a written allowance. Choose a contingency based on these risks, not an invented local percentage.

How to use these prices

One contractor’s published planning range, not a Marco Island market average or a quote. The source does not itemize inclusions, wall height or material-specific rates. Confirm removal, engineering, permits, access, dock work and restoration in a written proposal. Prices checked October 29, 2026. The source discusses concrete and vinyl but does not publish a numerical breakdown by material. Material choices therefore do not change the general range. Repair examples use their own anchor-work rates. City permit charges come from Resolution 26-26 and are never used as construction prices.
