Tigertail & Clam Bay Seawall Repair Guide
Distinguish a residential canal project from work near the Tigertail lagoon or Gulf beach. The shoreline setting changes the access and environmental questions.
Describe your project on this page ↓Get to know your waterfront
The city describes the tidal bay between Tigertail Beach and Sand Dollar Island as a bird-feeding area. That setting is different from an engineered residential canal wall. The city bridge brochure separately identifies Clam Bay crossings at North Collier Boulevard, South Kendall Drive, Hernando Drive and Blackmore Drive. A property near Tigertail may need a bridge-route review, a habitat question or both; the street name alone does not determine the answer.

Put the exact shoreline on the site plan
Show whether the proposed work is on a canal, lagoon-facing property or Gulf frontage. Ask the permitting office and designer which approvals apply before assuming a standard canal replacement. A Gulf-front project may need CCCL review.
Where vegetation affects access, photograph it before any trimming or clearing. DEP’s mangrove guidance calls for district review of the relevant exemption question; a repair proposal does not itself authorize removal.
What could the work cost?
Require separate allowances for constrained vessel access, protected vegetation and any additional environmental design. Use the city fee schedule only after the work category is confirmed.

Tigertail & Clam Bay project questions
Are all Tigertail properties subject to the same beach rules?
No. Canal, lagoon and Gulf-facing locations need parcel-specific jurisdiction checks. A neighborhood label is not a permit determination.

Can a small barge use the brochure’s clearance number?
The operator must check its loaded dimensions, route and current water levels. The published brochure expressly limits its readings to informational use.
